Icon is directed at myself today.

Good morning, flist!

I am chugging the coffee this morning in an attempt to appear human.

Snipped for girly and childish fears )

In non-pathetic news, it's Monday, the sun is shining, and all of that other jazz. I had a lovely weekend, and am less inclined to take up the life of a carnie. Which is good because they kind of freak me out. I've already been through my morning RSS feeds, and picked out some fun nuggets:

Would you like some SCARY with your coffee? Wireless, spywareless keylogging has arrived. Way to ruin Starbucks for the rest of us, hackers1.

1 - Okay, technically this is electronic espionage and not really hacking. But still.

Or what about some cyborg crickets?

No? Er, that's all I've got so far.
greyias: (hot)
For those fretting silently at home, I did eventually recover from my hangover on Saturday. Sadly, our refrigerator went to that big appliance store in the sky on Sunday, so we spent some quality family time searching for its replacement. My suspicions is that its demise is related to the heatwave we're experiencing. I've also been told that I'm blaming too many things on the heat wave, so take that as you will.

It's still way too hot for a penguin down here.

Monday morning was spent trying not to snorfle loudly and having to physically resist from commenting on this article. I mean, there's... no. Resisting... resisting... resisti--oh, let's change the subject before I get myself in trouble.

I have proudly finally finished answering the character meme from, gosh, over a week ago. Of course, I may have written mini-novels as answers, which took more time than I'm willing to admit to. But at least there were no spreadsheets this time around.

Sadly, I have run out of interesting things to talk about. Which is rather convenient, because my lunch break is over and I have to return to fighting with Sony Cinescore. There was a request for more drums in the soundtrack of the video I'm working on, but alas, there is no conveniently labeled "More Cow Bell!" button to be found. Looks like I'm going to have to read the manual. *muttergrumble*

And before I go, because it's a Monday...

Coffee Anyone? )

ETA: OH! RIGHT! )
greyias: (*poke*)
I am somehow surprised, unsurprised, taken aback, and outraged by the Proposition 8 shenanigans that continue in California. My feelings are best summed up by the one dissenting judge on the matter:

"Promising equal treatment to some is fundamentally different from promising equal treatment for all. Promising treatment that is almost equal is fundamentally different from ensuring truly equal treatment."

So, instead of shaking my head, I'm going to meme instead!

Fandom meme snurched up from [personal profile] jadesfire

The rules are simple, if you're interested leave a comment and I'll LJ stalk you to find THREE FANDOMS you apparently love. And then you answer these questions about them!

1) What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2) Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3) Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
4) Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5) Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?

[personal profile] jadesfire gave me Supernatural, Rawhide, and a choice between Doctor Who or Stargate Atlantis. I went with SGA after a little dithering.

Supernatural )

Rawhide )

SGA )

And snagging this from... I think everyone else on my f-list, although [personal profile] naye was the last one I saw with it.

Favorite Ship Meme )

And before I forget, I thought I would add that [community profile] sgabigbang sign-ups are still open in all areas (writers/artists/betas/cheerleaders/coders). [personal profile] jadesfire and I have signed up as a team, which is going to produce some interesting results for sure1. This is the last year this iteration of the Big Bang is going to be run, so if you do want to join in on the fun...

1 - Jades, are you suuuure?
greyias: (gilbert fun)
No amusing macros this Monday, as I couldn't seem to find one that was suitable. Perhaps I'll make one up for next week.

Will that make it Macro Monday?

No kittehs to be found beyond this cut )

ETA: Sorry about that, had to fix some coding.

ETA 2: I just remembered. I have an ungodly number (See: 7) of Dreamwidth invite codes I've been inadvertently hording. Is there anyone who's interested in DW who hasn't gotten one yet?
greyias: (charger)
So, I was planning on making a very thought provoking post about Amazon-Fail, censorship (intentional or not), and how to make a proper apology (ie: "I am sorry. I am so sorry, we did not mean for this to happen. Please accept our apology as we attempt to fix this" over "It's a glitch, just hold on and it'll be fixed. Gawd.")

Sadly, those plans were cut short by being granted the opportunity to share with everyone yet another fun-filled car story, this time with direct involvement!

Not-so-long-story-short: I am fine.

Actually, it's not a very long, complicated, or nearly as hilarious of a story as the last one, sorry guys... )

*waves* Felicitations! It's a new week, which I'm rather excited about, because last week for some reason bordered on "do over" status (at least Monday and Tuesday did). This one is looking much better! cut because it got long )

And on the non-fannish/fic horizon, there are... fun travel possibilities. More on that later, if it comes to pass. (Wouldn't want to jinx it.)

Finally, some pimpage:

There's a Gen Battle going on over at [livejournal.com profile] fox1013's journal. There's already several entries, but like the greedy ficcer I am, I need MOAR. If I can break myself out of the Fic o' Doom, I will try and add something too *g*, as they have some rather tempting prompts. Ends February 29... 28th... how many days are in this month this year?

Write or Die - For my fellow writers. I was a little skeptical that this would work when it was introduced to me by one of my off-LJ buddies last November. However it is... alarmingly good at what it does. There's something just a little bit frightening about your screen going red, and strange noises being blasted at you to KEEP TYPING. But I have a problem with checking my Gmail every five seconds, so it might not be as effective for someone who doesn't want to be bullied by their computer.

But it's kind of fun.

And sadly, my lunch break is over again, so I am off to dream of ways to be cruel to my favorite characters work again.
