(Random otter icon because I have no coffee icon as of yet. Yet.)
Yesterday I apparently woke up in a different time zone (somwhere in Australia I think), because I had random, epiphany-like moments where I suddenly cried out, "Wait! Today is Tuesday! Not Wednesday!" The tradition has continued into today, because I've already had to tell myself once that it's not Thursday. On the bright side, waking up a day ahead of the rest of the world has done marvelous things with my hair this morning, so I guess it's an even trade.
Because I think I like stressing myself out, I went ahead and signed up for the
gateverse_remix. It sounds like such a fun exercise, I couldn't resist. I sort of feel sorry for the person who gets assigned to me, especially if they have no idea who I am and the first link they click on is either "A Fowl Encounter" or "Otters, Otters Everywhere!"
On a final note, I just frightened myself by looking at housing prices and mortgage rates. If you'll excuse me, I need to go breathe into a paper bag now.

On an even brighter note, I ♥ write-offs.

Maybe a hundred or so words of that is from various tweaks when I was editing yesterday, but mostly from Monday's session with
kristen999. I'm in "The Little Engine That Could" mode right now in regards to this story, probably because I keep thinking up snatches of dialogue, and have to rush to the computer to write them down before I forget. I honestly don't think I can write 40K of pure snark, but there are days that I wonder. (Maybe 20K.)

Check out the prices in Marin County, you'll feel soooo much better. *g* It's one of the reasons I moved back to Europe. (Of course I now pay USD 9,56 for a gallon of gas, no kidding, so it evens out.)
And YAY for signing up for

That gas price... oh, it makes me weep. Then again, I drive a Charger with a Hemi, so I'm just staring at the sky rocketing prices with a whimper and trembling lip.

Do I need 340 horsepower in my everyday life? Nah, but it's fun. Will I bring my father car shopping next time? Definitely no.
no subject
I've noticed that when I do that, I can also watch the needle on the gas gauge drop a tick or two.
Augh! ::cringe:: That hurts these days.
Will I bring my father car shopping next time? Definitely no.
Does that mean that you brought your father car shopping this last time, and he was the speed freak who told you to go with the hemi, or that he's more like my dad and would have a coronary about it?

As for my father...
His idea of a proper test drive is to wait for all the other cars on the feeder road to pass and slow to a near stop in the far right-hand lane. Then when he's sure no one's coming, he punches the gas pedal to the floor, whips into the left lane and hops up on the freeway to see if those 0 to 60 tests are accurate.
Or maybe that's just what he does with the Chargers. I hear he was pulling donuts when he was test driving his BMW.

And now you've signed up for the remix! Yikes! I was looking at that, but the fact it is all genre scared me off - and the fact that I'm not sure I could write a remix anyway! Part of me wants to give it a try, part of me is scared I'd fail miserably (or get a genre I don't like to read). Maybe I need to look at the rules again...
As for house prices, well, they're falling a little over here in the UK. How far they'll fall remains to be seen! Probably not a good time to buy unless you have to (which, of course, will push the market down even more...!). Glad we're not wanting/needing to move atm.
Hope you find the right house at the right price in the right neighbourhood soon (and don't panic about living alone - just buy yourself a dog that looks a bit fierce but is actually a little sweety!! Or get yourself a pack of Giant Otters, they take on caiman and win!).

My folks haven't made any real noise about kicking me out yet... I just like to make a preemptive strike ;)
Pack of giant otters? I could do that. I hear they're even better than peacocks.
And now you've signed up for the remix! Yikes!
I'm a glutton for punishment. The pairing stuff makes me a little nervous, but I think I can always try something once. Kind of take whatever the relationship is on the show and just skew it slightly, you know? I'm more terrified of being faced with like a whole collection of gorgeously written works and having to do something different with them. The minimum is a 1000 words on that though, so I think it's probably doable, even if it's a different take on a significant scene or something.
Yay! 13% done already!
What's funny is that I haven't even finished the first "day" yet. I'm kind of curious to how long it's going to take for the action to ramp up. Corporate action heroes apparently take some time to get going. (Are you dying of curiosity yet?)
And 40K of pure snark - well, if anyone could do it I'd bet on you!!!
Hee! There should totally be a snarkathon, if there's not one already. All snark, all the time.

Yes, yes, yes - I've been curious ever since you mentioned John's motorbike, let alone SuperSpy!Rodney!!! Salivating over here!!
Hee! There should totally be a snarkathon, if there's not one already. All snark, all the time.
Oh crap, don't tempt me...really, don't!!! Not sure how it would work - which is probably as well!

Excellent. *steeples fingers together ala Monty Burns*
Not sure how it would work - which is probably as well!
It could be a fall thing! Watch the colors change and the banter be exchanged or... yeah, I'm not sure how'd it work either. Definitely better this way.

What have I done! *panic dance*
Eek, hope I can manage it alright - it's only 1,000 words minimum, surely I can do that?!!
It's All. Your. Fault!

It's All. Your. Fault!
I think I can live with that ;)

My OC for the Big Bang is really trying to talk to me, so I'm concentrating on the Timestamp meme fics for now - I find that the longer I leave it, the stronger the idea. I can write 40k in a month. That's under 1k a day. *waves hands* easy o_O Really glad yours is starting to work, and having random ideas like that is always good.
I won't even start on the Oxford property market...

And woohoo! Another remixer!
It's very intimidating indeed! A lot of the names I recognize are really good writers, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to do the original stories justice. I think it'll be most interesting, either way. The only thing I'm really worried about is getting someone that writes Sheppard/Teyla ship, because... I just can't see that as a romantic relationship, no matter which way I turn my head. That, and Teyla eludes me like no other character. (Will probably serve me right for sending her on snack runs in so many stories, though).
no subject
And yes, Teyla may well be plotting her revenge as we speak. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Also, after your request had me stumped completely, I finally managed your Timestamp story - now up at my journal. It turned out to be quite fun, once I broke the damn thing :)
no subject
I foresee large, wooden sticks in my future. Especially since I've forgotten both of the ideas I had for Teyla-centric stories. Poor Teyla.
your request had me stumped completely</>
Heh, sorry about that... that seems to be a recurring theme with me. Going to check it out now!
