(Random otter icon because I have no coffee icon as of yet. Yet.)
Yesterday I apparently woke up in a different time zone (somwhere in Australia I think), because I had random, epiphany-like moments where I suddenly cried out, "Wait! Today is Tuesday! Not Wednesday!" The tradition has continued into today, because I've already had to tell myself once that it's not Thursday. On the bright side, waking up a day ahead of the rest of the world has done marvelous things with my hair this morning, so I guess it's an even trade.
Because I think I like stressing myself out, I went ahead and signed up for the
gateverse_remix. It sounds like such a fun exercise, I couldn't resist. I sort of feel sorry for the person who gets assigned to me, especially if they have no idea who I am and the first link they click on is either "A Fowl Encounter" or "Otters, Otters Everywhere!"
On a final note, I just frightened myself by looking at housing prices and mortgage rates. If you'll excuse me, I need to go breathe into a paper bag now.

On an even brighter note, I ♥ write-offs.

Maybe a hundred or so words of that is from various tweaks when I was editing yesterday, but mostly from Monday's session with
kristen999. I'm in "The Little Engine That Could" mode right now in regards to this story, probably because I keep thinking up snatches of dialogue, and have to rush to the computer to write them down before I forget. I honestly don't think I can write 40K of pure snark, but there are days that I wonder. (Maybe 20K.)

That gas price... oh, it makes me weep. Then again, I drive a Charger with a Hemi, so I'm just staring at the sky rocketing prices with a whimper and trembling lip.

Do I need 340 horsepower in my everyday life? Nah, but it's fun. Will I bring my father car shopping next time? Definitely no.

I've noticed that when I do that, I can also watch the needle on the gas gauge drop a tick or two.
Augh! ::cringe:: That hurts these days.
Will I bring my father car shopping next time? Definitely no.
Does that mean that you brought your father car shopping this last time, and he was the speed freak who told you to go with the hemi, or that he's more like my dad and would have a coronary about it?

As for my father...
His idea of a proper test drive is to wait for all the other cars on the feeder road to pass and slow to a near stop in the far right-hand lane. Then when he's sure no one's coming, he punches the gas pedal to the floor, whips into the left lane and hops up on the freeway to see if those 0 to 60 tests are accurate.
Or maybe that's just what he does with the Chargers. I hear he was pulling donuts when he was test driving his BMW.
