I have been informed by some not-so-anonymous people (*cough
mumumugencough*) that it is mandatory for me to put one of these up this year. *dramatic sigh* So I guess I will. However, it's just a teensy bit close to Christmas, because, uh, the holidays EXPLODED on me? (You were wondering why the Ficmas dried up, weren't you? Really sorry, but it couldn't be avoided. I'm going to try really hard to finish those and have massive postings soon. Gomenasai!) Seeing as it is the 18th of December, I'm really not expecting anything, except maybe for you guys to have a good holiday season. (Yeah, I'm cheesy.)
Step One:
* Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 unlimited 8D holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
* If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
* Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two:
* Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
* If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
* You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
* There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
Holiday Wishlist,
greyias Edition
And before I disappear back into the Holiday Madness Mist again, how's everyone doing this fine holiday season?

- I love art. I wish I had the patience to do it better myself. I have notebook pages filled with failed sketches of Cool Scenes, either from stories I've written, or just things that would Look Cool.
- Fic - I didn't sign up for any of the Secret Santas (I felt guilty about not being able to reciprocate), but I'm never opposed to a fun snark fest between my favorite guys. Fic recs count too! I'm woefully behind on my reading, but I've been craving some nice friendshippy John and Rodney adventures lately.
- Recs! - TV, movies, books, whatever -- I'm always in the search of the Latest in Squee. My big loves are friendship and snark (shocking, isn't it?), so anything that hits that particular kink is always greatly appreciated.
- Icons - I snuck in during the Permanant Account sale and snatched me one, purely so I could have more icons. I seem to have a startling lack of, of all things, Rodney icons, and I'm still not sure how I don't have a squee, lol, and \o/ icons.
- Squee - I'm stealing this from
naye, but yes, squee! It makes me happy, especially Real Life Squee. Happiness is infectious!
- Charity! - If you're really in the giving mood, there's thousands of charities on Razoo that you can donate to, or just someone on the street.
- Surprise me? Actually, I'd be surprised with anything. I'm easily startled like that ;) I'm pretty easy to please.
And before I disappear back into the Holiday Madness Mist again, how's everyone doing this fine holiday season?
# 3 - TV Rec
It's always so much fun with each episode, whether they're obscure references to Back to the Future or Die Hard or making fun of Best Buy. Also, Adam Baldwin, Jayne from Firefly, what else could you ask for? It's really a great show, with great friendship and snark, if that's what you're looking for.

The only problem is that it's kind of hard to get hold of. You can get some (but not all) from Netflix and some (maybe all?) from Amazon Unbox. The DVDs are out of print and impossible to find. I also found an LJ comm that has the first two story arcs for download; I'd rather not list it in an unlocked post, but let me know if you're interested and I'll PM you.

Not a happy squeey one, but I hope you'll like it anyway!
Books - if you like historical detective types, then Lindsey Davis' Falco series is excellent ('The Silver Pigs' is the first book). Roman Empire, dodgy dealings, seedy detective (sort of) and a personal history that draws you in every bit as much as the excellent plots (best to read the books in order). Can also recommend Michael Jecks, Candace Robb and Peter Tremayne (his historical detective books, not read any of his sci-fi ones yet) - and, of course, the Cadfael books by Ellis Peters!
If you like animal books, then 'An Otter on the Aga' and its sequel 'An Eagle in the Airing Cupboard' by Rex Harper are great books about a RSPCA man, his sanctuary, his life and the animals he has met. Also any of the books by Doreen Tovey (cats, donkeys and non-animal based autobiographies).
I'm not reading much sci-fi at present (other than fanfic!), but have enjoyed Asimov's Foundation Series, most of the John Wyndham books (Triffids etc), 'Fade Out' by Patrick Tilley and 'Conqueror's Pride', 'Conqueror's Heritage' and 'Conqueror's Legacy' by Timothy Zahn (these are original fic, not his Star Wars books - though I can rec them as well if you like SW!!).
And last but not least (for now anyway):
Well, you said to surprise you!!! *bg*

I'm a little under the weather (I'm sick again =_= Bagh) but as soon as I'm not sore, I'm going to do you a Christmas present so hard, you're going to be like OH MY GOD OH NO YOU DI-N'T THAT'S TOO HOLIDAY-ISH and I'll be like HELL YEAH and you'll be like THAT'S OBSCENE, IT'S TOO MUCH and we'll Squee.
Or maybe not-- who knows? Just conditioning it so as not to set myself the bomb by raising TOO high a standard. I'll just say, I'll try my best. :o

A movie that you must see is "Music Within" It's a lovely dark humor story about the founder of the "People With Disabilities Act". Wonderful story, a real heart warmer must watch.
