Last Friday... was really not a good night. Thankfully, I made the discovery of the new Doctor Who on my Tivo, which saved me from an embarrassing incident of crying on my f-list's shoulder. Of course, being of the fannish mindset, just a few episodes would not do, oh no. I wound up watching the last third of season three, plus all of season four over the long weekend. I officially love Donna Noble, former bridezilla and her pseudo-sibling relationship with the Doctor. And am sorely disappointed that we (likely) won't see her again.
Of course, I watched everything completely out of order, so I've still got the first half of season three to watch, most of season two, and all of season one to watch. Probably says something good about the series that I can hop around like this.
Loved Torchwood's guest appearance in the Who finale (oh, Jack, giving your team big group hugs as you sadly announce that everyone's going to die?), and am now considering tracking down Sarah Jane Adventures, just so I have something to occupy my mind. I would love to be writing, but I'm afraid my frame of mind is just not with it enough (and I had the perfect entry for John Sheppard and interior decorating over at

Most of this week is going to feel like twiddling my thumbs until Thursday afternoon.
And because we all need a little smile this early... lolcats:

ETA: Firefox 3 + LJ do not like me this morning.

Firefox 3: *stabz*
I spent three hours, at least, to fix that idiotic new URL bar the developers love so much. At least now I have found a configuration that works as well as before, maybe even a little better. But at one point I was close to kicking the thing of my computer... I'd even downloaded 2.0.0.16 already.

It's so cheesy it's funny!
I seriously detest the Firefox 3 URL bar, but haven't had time to experiment with it yet. Did you manage to beat it into submission using the methods you posted the other day?
I'm seriously eyeing Google Chrome, although I don't know if it'll do what I want. One of the things I seriously love about Firefox, even though it's a resource hog, is its ability to resume terminated sessions, complete with saved drafts of comments. Of course, Firefox 3 totally killed the Google Browser Synch plug-in, so I'm doubly unhappy with it.

Yes, a combination thereof did it. I went back and edited the entry because the browser.urlbar.matchOnlyTyped=true turned out to render the search function useless for me (since it disregards history entirely and only checks through URLs that have been typed in before... while I often click on links and then revisit them a couple of times during the following days.)
So now I'm using a combination of browser.urlbar.matchBehaviour = 2 (changed in about:config) and the Hide Unvisited add-on. Just these two things already do the trick - keep bookmarks from popping up out of nowhere, and keep search for strings limited to the beginning of words and not the middle. The past two days it's been working as well as before this mess.
The oldbar add-on is nice in addition because it makes the URL bar look like the old one, less obtrusive, but it's mostly cosmetic since it doesn't change the underlying search algorithm.
(Who thought it would be a good idea to include bookmarks in the search? If I'm looking for a bookmark, I go to my bookmarks folder. Plus, I'm sharing this computer with a bunch of people, and I trust them to be nice enough not to snoop through my bookmarks, but it's kind of hard to avoid looking at other people's data when they're shoved into your face.)

Donna has to get her happy ending, because seriously, that's so not fair! It's not just cutting out all the things she experienced, and you could tell how happy she was traveling with the Doctor, but she was forced to regress. I think "Turn Left" established that she was capable of growth on her own without the Doctor, but still... ouch.
And how can we not have more Doctor and Donna adventures? I mean, the charades conversation they had in 4x01 was hysterical. I have so much flaily love for Donna! :D

SJA really is aimed much younger. I enjoy it, but I do find myself complaining about it. Just be prepared. Small Child adores it and wants to meet Elisabeth Sladen and pretty much wants to be Sarah Jane.

Warning about SJA is duly noted. Of course, one of my guilty pleasures is occasionally turning on Toon Disney when I'm alone in the house, so SJA might fill that void too ;)
