The Seed, Episode Reaction
Woolsey rocks my freaking socks off! Seriously... seriously. He has day planners, and imported mahogony desks, and oh, look at that, a leader that pulls someone into private area for a private talk instead of announcing it to the entire expedition! And OMG, yes, I love his hesitation, and his uber bureaucratic dorkiness.
Dear god...
I think I have some sort of strange crush on Woolsey.
...ah, I'll get over it I'm sure.
(However, I totally need a Woolsey icon now... possibly with pens and pocket protectors.)
And Carson! Squee! Nice to not be reminded that he's a clone every five minutes, because unlike "The Kindred" he felt like Carson. Although the haircut has to go, I'm sorry. It's not the fifties anymore Carson. The rooster look was better. Maybe it's a really bad case of Stasis Hair?
And Rodney (quietly) volunteered to brave tentacle land to play hero. Oh, Rodney. Sad that you disappeared for all those minutes without butting in, because some running snarky commentary would have been funny, but probably interfered with the mood, so granted, that's just the fangirl in me talking. However, the scene in the beginning with Teyla and Keller? More of that, please. That was nice, as well as a nod to the fact that Kanaan did not die horribly and is indeed becoming human again. Oh, and the ATA/Jumper thing was addressed and... and... oh writers, bless you for giving us continuity!
Oh, and thank you
jcjoeyfreak, when Radek was attacked by the crawly stuff, do you know what I was thinking? Of course you do! And Ronon so got tentacle pwn'd.
Next week looks fun, but in deference to those not wanting to be spoiled, I'll save any thoughts/speculation for another post.
Oh, and one more thing.
Five years into the show, and finally we've been shown the freaking lightswitches!
Er, I don't have any particular attachment to Ancient Lightswitches for any reason. And I totally didn't order a shirt for ComicCon last night that might deal with the same subject matter.
And finally... squee! I <3 my show!

And I thought Woolsey was perfect!
Don't get me started on the Shep whump. I'll be here all night.

How sad is it that I squeed at the light switch?
Not sad because I totally squeed and like high fived myself for that one! Just show me mundane everyday Ancient tech, I'm good. Man, if they show us a toilet I'll probably just have some sort of mental breakdown of happy... that would be a little sad, come to think of it.
And yes, to every single continuity thing mentioned! I also had the thought of who got elected for babysitting duty... maybe it was Chuck! I don't recall seeing him at the console this eppy, just his female counterpart. So not only is he the Chucknician, but he's also the Chucksitter!
Man... I wish I could explain my fascination/obsession with Woolsey. I think it stems from the fact that when they first announced Weir leaving the show, he was my main pick for her replacement... and also possibly because I already have an awesome fic idea that can totally be S5 canon now.

HA! Chucksitter! Wish I had thought of that term.
And, yes, you need to go with that awesome fic idea.

I can totally pretend like you made it up, especially since I'm so stealing some of your prose for the bar scene edits. It's an even swap ;)
And, yes, you need to go with that awesome fic idea.
Soon... soon my fic obligation plate will be free. Then I shall conquer the world! (Or sleep some more)

Poor Zelenka, good thing rambo!Teyla saved him! As I do not really want to think about Zelenka and tentacles crawling up his pant leg, trying to get into his pants.
Stupid tentacles. All I could think when it speared John like shish kabob was that IT MISSED. We're not supposed to make new holes, you stupid tentacle. Just.. use the ones.. that are... there. I kinda want to write fic now. oO

*winces at mental image* You're just doing this on purpose now, aren't you? And poor shish-kaJohn. Whumped two episodes in a row. He's got like matching scars now!
I kinda want to write fic now. oO
Do it! I mean, everyone has to write a tentacle fic sometime in their life. Possibly even a SGA tentacle fic.
...and your icon.. *dies*

And finally, Carson's hair...yeah, what's up with that? Maybe he just needs someone to muss it up for him. Overall, it was good to watch a new episode!

Still, the talking alien bit? Yawn...
Kind of have to agree with you there... although it does give "if these walls could talk" a whole new meaning.
And finally, Carson's hair...yeah, what's up with that? Maybe he just needs someone to muss it up for him.
His Mum will do a fine job of that, I think! Of course, providing that the poor woman doesn't have a stroke being told her son has risen from the grave. Poor Carson's Mum. It's always the off screen characters who suffer the most.

Carson - squee!! And Rodney talks to him in stasis - how many fics have I read with that in? At least two spring to mind, and I'm sure there are others (or will be now!!)!!
Keller and Rodney are sweet - looking forward to seeing what happens with that...and don't forget Ronon likes her too... Uh oh, do I sense trouble?! And for someone who's not normally into ship, why am I so excited about this?!
And Ancient lightswitches - and making hiveships - and ATA genes and hybrids - and mentions of turning into a bug...!!
Um, think my thoughts are a bit scattered - sorry!!
Mustn't forget when Rodney tells Carson his 'symptoms' and Carson's response of 'nothing unusual then' (or words to that effect) cracked me up!! Ah, how well Carson knows Rodney!! But one day, Carson or Jennifer are going to assume Rodney's just being Rodney when something really is wrong with him...Hmm, fic idea, anyone?!
EDITED: 'Cos I've got myself a Woolsey icon now!!!

also loved the end scene with Sheppard and his 'welcome to the Pegasus Galaxy' bit!
I did too! Oh, John. They don't necessarily like him or his style, but they're all adults about it. I love that there will still be friction, but hopefully it's friction that will lead somewhere. I think Woolsey proved himself to his command staff by listening to them, which while scary, will only help everyone in the long run.
And for someone who's not normally into ship, why am I so excited about this?!
I think because there's not a huge potential for it to take over teh show and mess with team dynamics, like actual shipping between team members would. I'm seeing it more of a storytelling opportunity than an excuse to hook people up. But maybe that's just me ;) Ask me in a few more episodes and my answer might change.
Mustn't forget when Rodney tells Carson his 'symptoms' and Carson's response of 'nothing unusual then' (or words to that effect) cracked me up!!
That was so cute! I've so missed Carson. Keller has a completely different dynamic with the team (not better or worse, just different). I've always seen Carson kind of as a big brother type to everyone, and I've kind of missed that. I really hope we get to see some more interaction between him and Keller, if only so they'll play to my little fanon that he took her on as a protege before the whole "Sunday" thing happened.
But one day, Carson or Jennifer are going to assume Rodney's just being Rodney when something really is wrong with him...Hmm, fic idea, anyone?!
I know I read one like that by someone recently. It was either Ellex or LdyAnne. But a few more wouldn't hurt ;) Poor Rodney and his "hypochondria".
(I put it in quotes because I don't really think he acts like a hypochondriac, but then again, my perception of hypochondria is based on someone in real life, and Rodney's worrying over his health doesn't resemble it by any stretch of the imagination.)
'Cos I've got myself a Woolsey icon now!!!
Lucky! I need to stop being lazy and get one myself.

And I agree with everything you said. Natch.

I know! I was so glad to see that!
Yeah, Stasis Hair is a problem--but I won't complain as long as we get to keep Carson, even if we don't see him every week. Well, I won't complain much.

(And maybe it's just a fic writer's guilty pleasure, but this also means I don't have to set things pre-"Sunday" all the time if I feel like having a scene with Carson!)
