Well,
sholio, I hope you're happy!
I'm now moving on to episode three of Being Human, and yes, George, Mitchell, Annie, and even those side characters are utterly adorable. They just... just... and then they... *flail* And... and... "Vin Diesel is an amazing man". "We could grow vegetables!"
I lolled. And squailed.
Why is there only six episodes?
This just can't end well.
How can so much adorableness be packed into a vampire, werewolf, and a ghost?
*flails again*

... seriously, aren't they cute as a box of puppies? *squails* Even Mitchell is a total dork (and vampires come with about +10 coolness points built in, so he's working at a serious advantage compared to the others XD), what with his slightly loony "How To Be a Convincing Human" program and his doofy grin ...
I think the point where the show really got me hook, line and sinker was the reconciliation scene after they fight in episode 2. I mean, there is certainly more than enough adorable to go around in the rest of the episode, but that scene ... with the grins and the awkwardness and the fact that they are all obviously miserable without each other, and ... *squails some more*

And I love how he just has to meet the neighbors, and he has that horrible, horrible flannel hat that subtracts every single cool point added by his vampire status XD
#2 I think hit almost every single one of my show kinks between all of the characters, (but I just finished #6, and HOH.MY.GOD.) They're just such a wonderful, goofy, loyal, occasionally very scary family, and tugs all my strings so bad.
(And yeah... now that I've finished the series... Way. Too. Short. Need. Moar.)

I don't even know where to begin with #6. XD I want to write up some meta on this show, but like "Life on Mars", there's just so much to meta about that it totally confounds my ability to do so. I look back on it and think "Wow, how was that just ONE episode?!"
I ... may be rewatching some choice bits. Like, nearly all of it.

\o/ for new episodes!... although having to wait until 2010 makes me a very sad panda. That seems like far too long.
I mean, it's almost a perfect opportunity to write something, just to have more stories. But I just don't think I could do it justice. That, and I want to know more about the mythology and the universe.
SGA? This is how it's done! *g*
I think this show could teach a lot of others about growth, development, and interaction.
but like "Life on Mars", there's just so much to meta about that it totally confounds my ability to do so.
Sooo true! That was one thing that I adored about LoM, is that each episode was just so very jam-packed with so many layers, that I kind of just wanted to show everyone it so they could have just as much fun peeling everything back. What's so fun about Being Human is there's all those layers, but there's something even more accessible for my mind, as much as I loved LoM, I feel like I really know these characters. Especially the main trio. They're so very... recognizable.

Hee! I... might be marking up a song in Sony Vegas to start putting together a vid.

I recognize what you mean about the difference between this show and LoM. I adored LoM, to the point where I think it's one of my favorite shows ever. But at the same time, it was tied up so tightly and perfectly that I can't really imagine any more, and I was never really moved to make fanworks for it because I didn't feel like I could do justice to it.
Whereas this show, I love and adore the characters so thoroughly, and relate to them in their infinite humanness (ironic, I know -- but true! It's kind of like the Wizard of Oz in that they're trying so hard to be human and have no idea how very human they are already). I couldn't really imagine writing, say, a ficlet about the LoM crew sitting around playing poker or going down to the pub, but little fics about the BH housemates playing board games or watching TV or doing other silly, ordinary things practically beg to be written.

I may be, er, about a minute or so into a vid myself. XD It's just such a very viddable show! And there are no good vids out there! At least not that I can find.
Man, that surprises me. You'd think there'd be lots of nice ones. It has such strong visuals -- I mean, when you've got a vampire and a werewolf in your cast, you're going to get some nice ones to work with -- but it has... awesome colors? And camera effects? I don't know how to describe it, but the cinematography is gorgeous, and it doesn't have this jarring effect I occasionally see in some BBC programs (and Walker Texas Ranger) that make my editor's eye twitch.

That's an excellent analogy! It kind of broke my heart every time they would say, "...but it's not human.", and I would flail and go, "Yes, it is! Yes, you are!" But it's kind of a fun philosophical puzzle, and I love how the trio have this idealized version of humanity, and yet the show clearly shows that being a monster isn't something physical. It's *flails* I like being encouraged to think and philosophize on my own. I think it's a sign of strong writing.
And every single one of the main trio, and several of the side characters, I can sit and go, "I know that person." I think its part of what makes them great characters.

I can't say I'd be opposed to reading one of those ;)

Yeah; it's a really lovely series! And not just because of some nice eye candy on the part of the cast; I agree with you that it's very attractively lit and filmed. Maybe it's just too new and obscure to have attracted much attention yet.

I know! They all have this odd, idealized, almost-impossible-to-live-up-to image of what being human "is", and in the meantime, they're quietly living it out in their daily lives. It really does make you think about what being human or being a monster means. I love shows that do that to me.
... and now I think I'll go back and watch the Mitchell-in-the-hospital scenes again before bed. I'm so shameless when I have a new toy. XD

I totally ship Mitchell/George. And Mitchell/George/Annie is the perfect OT3. XD

(And I'm not really into shipping in this show it seems. I'm perfectly happy with the platonic and canon relationships... which is a little odd for me.)
