Well everyone else is doing it, and dang it, if everyone else jumps off a cliff, someone has to rescue them, right?

The thing is, when people look for stories, they always make it sound like badfic. Now, often that's because it really is badfic, but sometimes it's good and they just suck at describing the story.

So, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to summarize badly any one (or more!) of my stories and I'll try to guess which it is. You could even pretend you don't remember the pairing or fandom to make it harder to guess.

(Go take a look at [profile] sgastoryfinders for examples of the real thing.)

Here's a few places you can find stories...
My SGA Fic Page, FFnet, And here on LJ

I have a feeling because of the, erm, unique nature of a few stories this might be easier to make 'em sound like badfic than others. (Perhaps they just are badfic ;)

Not sure, but I think it had a fish in it, oh, and an Ancient mug.

Would that be Simplicity? (I love that mug.)

It was the mug that gave it away, wasn't it? Not the blowfish impersonation by Rodney...

Okay, so this other fic I'm looking for involved canoeing, I'm sure of it.

[identity profile] greyias.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually planned to use the mug as a recurring gag for the series (I just didn't expect to be stuck on the third part for like three years). It also meets its grisly end in another (separate) WIP I'm working on. So yeah... I have an unhealthy obsession with that mug ;)

Canoeing... canoeing... that's pretty good! I'm thinking maybe Rough Landings, if not, I'm totally stumped.

You got it! Darn, not very good at this, am I?!! I love that scene btw, John 'canoeing' his bed over to Rodney, Rodney's 'it's not my fault' to Carson and Carson's revenge on 'poor' John...!!! LOL!

I think I'll stop for now and see if anyone else wants to join in...

Pfft, you're much better than me. I would love to claim brilliance and higher thinking on the cot-canoe... but there's a high probability that alcohol was involved, especially since that was while I was in college.

**Well everyone else is doing it, and dang it, if everyone else jumps off a cliff, someone has to rescue them, right?**

Or jump after them to save them. Lol!

Okay, I'll give, since I'm a bit bored.

"Rondey, Sheppard, What can Carson do but not be surprised?"

Now doesn't that just sound dirty!

Er... Thicker Than Blood?

[identity profile] water-soter.livejournal.com 2008-02-29 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
That obvious? Hehe, good guess. Not a lot of your fics have all three as main characters and Carson solving a mystery!

I fear any summary of "Nepenthe's Kiss" would sound like badfic--but it isn't!

Let's see--how about the one with bondage? I think Rodney was involved. And drugs--yeah, some kind of drugs!

:ahem: I might take this opportunity to point out that no one has responded on my "summarize my stories as badfic" item: it's here. Brilliant Husband thinks my stories are too distinctive to offer any possibility of confusion. Isn't that nice of him? I think they may just be too long. (I have short ones! Really!)

Wait, wait, this isn't Nepenthe's Kiss? It frightens me greatly that I'm staring at my fic list, realizing how many of them could deal with "drugs".

(Sadly I don't think I've read anything of yours yet. I shall remedy that soon!)

I have been terribly misleading in my summary, of course. I will tell you that it's not "Nepenthe's Kiss" I'm thinking of, but there is a kind of drug addiction (pretty much off-stage). The bondage really comes before your story starts. That's probably clear as mud now.

I only have four SGA stories, and one I just posted two days ago, so you're allowed not to have read any yet--but I hope you will!

Wow, you're pretty good at this... hrm...

This Never Happened to Kirk?

I haven't read "This Never Happened to Kirk"! I'll have to go back and do that--after work.

No, that's not the one. I'll add that some sparks really fly in this story.

(Hee hee! I've already completely stumped one person at this game, just summarizing her own fic back to her!)

[identity profile] greyias.livejournal.com 2008-02-29 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Aha! Breakdown!

...right?

(Otherwise those sparks have to be from explosions... and apparently that happens just about as much as drugs do in my fics... what is wrong with me?)

Yes! You have it!

Bondage, drugs, and sparks flying. I hadn't realized before how many of your stories those might describe. :-)

Which is possibly the scariest thing of all. Maybe that haiku machine knew what it was talking about!
