I'm afraid my mother will never quite get slash, so I have to be very, very careful to put up something very gen if she ever wants to look at my Kindle. That's just an awkward conversation waiting to happen! (Thankfully she's ordered her own, so I won't have to show mine off to prying eyes anymore.)

Huhn. I can kind of get that. I find I don't really like the kind of social networking you find on Facebook and MySpace, it seems too... impersonal? I always wind up getting dragged in by other people, but it loses its shine quickly.
