Hee - my mom actually wrote ST:TOS fic in high school, never knowing that there was a greater fandom out there publishing zines at the same time. She was a bit surprised when we got into fandom, but she understood it, even if she doesn't actively fan much herself (though she's written a bit of fic herself, and she was all over slash from the first introduction...)
