I always wondered, with morbid curiosity, what exactly Kavanagh took to be "sexual harrasment" from Simpson. Mostly because, I'm pretty sure, there was absolutely no love lost between them. I'm thinking it was probably some relatively harmless argument that escalated into a hand-slapping fight over the experiment they were working on, and things sort of spiraled out of control from there. Later, Elizabeth sent Bates to check up on the scientists after hearing a report of a shouting match from their lab -- and somehow earned Kavanagh's wrath as he tried to calm things down.
