Completely Incoherent Episode Reaction to "The Prodigal"
Eeeeeeeee!
BOYS! RACING CARS! SUICIDE RUNS! EPIC BATTLE SEQUENCES! GALLANT WOOLSEY! RONON FILES REPORTS! MY SHIFT KEY IS STUCK! TEYLA KICKS SERIOUS ASS! RADEK GIGGLES AT RODNEY'S MISFORTUNE (HEE!), MICHAEL IS CREEPY (wait, that doesn't deserve caps), TEYLA'S PEOPLE INCLUDES ATLANTIS NOW, JOHN IS TOTALLY CHECKING ON HIS INJURED TEAMMATE BEFORE GOING AFTER THE BAD GUY ♥, DID I MENTION EPIC BATTLE SEQUENCES? AND RACE CARS? WITH REALLY LAME SMACK TALK?
:D :D :D :D :D :D
...what is this coherency you speak of?
Just... just... SHOW! ♥
Okay, I was a teensy bit scared going into this one because the preview made me think that the Dreaded Stolen Baby Arc™ was about to commence. But you proved me wrong, Show, and boy howdyyou can prove me wrong any day of the week just don't make a habit of it did I mention I'm not really coherent right now?
Where was I?
Oh, right.
OH, SHOW!
This week? Everyone rocked. Srsly. This was more than just a team ep, it was a city as team ep. Of course, because I'm just too far gone in my OTF, the John and Rodney scenes were my favorite. (The beginning! :D The Jumper Scene! /o\ The ending! XD) Of course, now John's so-many-he's-lost-count suicide runs have now transitioned from fanon to canon. Which makes me laugh so hard. And may I say that last image, with Teyla bouncing Torren like that, made me squee? Very loudly.
Something I've been noticing this season... I wouldn't say that I've disliked Teyla before this season, but this year I feel like I'm connecting and understanding her character much more than I have in the past. I'm not sure why. I mean, I don't think it's because of Torren, but something about her character has changed this year in a way I'm totally digging (and possibly I've changed too? Oh wait, that's way too sobering a thought for such a squeeful post). And I might be developing a girl!crush on Teyla. I mean, first priority is getting Torren to safety, of course. But then she's all about going off to kick Michael's ass. Which, yeah, was a little dark with the whole stepping on the hands thing, but how awesome was her and John taking turns socking Creepy!Thin!Man*?
Also, for those keeping track--
Woolsey Crush Rating (out of 5):
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
That's right, five full hearts, for beauracratic bulldozing in the beginning, to the gallant falling down of the steps (okay, perhaps that's just what he gets for trying to be a chivalrous manly man, but it was almost as cute as Robert Picardo pulling out a chair for Jewel Staite)... I keep distracting myself... and then all the way to the end, in his own special Woolsey way, trying to tell Ronon "good job" and "thanks for getting tossed off a flight of stairs and taking one for the team."
And there's a lot more I was noticing and giggling about during the episode (I do recall making some comment about John compensating with his big ass gun), and something about Michael + TechSavvy. Maybe I'll remember it later. Hopefully with more coherency if that happens.
* - I probably should feel sorrier for Michael... but I've never really cared or sympathized with his character all that much with the exception of his introduction episode. He just... whines too much? I don't know. He bores me a little as a plot device. And he's creepy. And end-of-last-season/this season he's kind of had the whole Michael Jackson vibe going on with his obsession with Torren, which doesn't help with the whole creep factor.
Hopefully I won't be squeeing alone in this episode like lastweek time. I was a very sad panda that no one enjoyed the cigars and brandy but me. So much so that I didn't post (okay, that's a lie, I was actually wiped out from work, but I was also a sad fandom panda that was alone in squee.)

As for the car scenes....even hubby watched them and laughed!! Soo competitive!! And Sheppard cheats! (As if Rodney wouldn't cheat too if he needed too...!) Oh, and Rodney's apparently tinkered with his car (some techno thing under the hood)! Well, I suppose he could have bought the car with that, but in my personal canon, he's tinkered with it!
And Ronon's report?! ROTFL!!!
Maybe I'll be coherent later, but this was brilliant!! Squeee!

PS I liked the cigars and brandy scene too. I thought Inquisition was a decent ep.

Ah yeah, I know that feeling. Like the time when I was seemingly the only person who squeed over Angel's 'Shiny Happy People'. (But I too did hate the cigar scene last week... never watched Boston Legal so any references to that show are wasted on me, and what remained just gave off a very weird vibe.)
But I'm not gonna talk about the last ep because this week's episode ROCKED and please, please, let next year's movie turn out something like this. This ep had everything I want from the show... team and friendship and action and a complex villain and they didn't kill the baby!

Me too! Glad my concern was unfounded.
... And there was so much great character interaction, not just between John and Rodney, but also between Woolsey and Ronon, and Ronon and Amelia (I even liked Amelia a lot, kicking ass with much style) and between Michael and Teyla, too. Loved all the details, like Zelenka going for his earpiece out of habit until he remembered he had to use the radio. And, man, I have to watch it again because I'm already forgetting all the little details. The action was great, plot was tense, the cinematography was fantastic, and I guess now we know why they needed to make the previous ep a bottle show... I can't remember seeing half the settings before.
I just hope this time they made sure and CHECK FOR THE BODY.

But "The Prodigal" was just so much what I watch SGA for, wacky plotholes and supervillains and remote controlled cars and all. More like that, plzkthx!!!
Also, totally with you on the girl!crush on Teyla. This season and the last have really brought the character into play for me. Kick-ass mommy FTW!!!

YESYESYESYESYESYESSSS!!!!1!! I loved this episode and I love squee posts loving the episode I love!
I mean, what's with "oh noes poor Michael" meta's? What? This was an excellent episode! This wasn't rushed, this wasn't boring, everybody got their moment to shine and the interactions were wonderful. Ronon and Teyla were awesome. This is what I mean when I say they don't get enough screen time this season; they rocked this episode! As so did Sheppard and McKay with their race cars and their suicide mission and Sheppard's babies that have been neglected by Rodney for two years. And Zelenka with his little head shake and smirk when he watches our boys run off and Woolsey with his eye rolls (YES! FIVE HEARTS for him this episode!!). And yes, of course there are twelve Michaels from Brazil in a lab somewhere, plotting vengeance as we speak, because no one every dies, they all come back as a clone or a replicator at some point, but hey. Great episode!

OK, I loved the cigar, but Inquisition needed at least three episodes to bring the story line to its full potential. Heck, Inquisition should have been the season 5 story arc, instead of that lame (sorry! no offense all ye Rodney/Keller shippers) love triangle we have now. *was a sad panda too*
