greyias: It's too damn hot for a penguin to just be walking around here... (hot)

Dear Work Week,

Please to be stop sucking my soul dry, so that I may converse with my companions located far-and-wide in the witty manner that I am accustomed to. I additionally request the energy to finish answering comments and make a coherent post that is not addressed to a concept, which in some realms is worse than talking to inanimate objects. If this is too difficult, I kindly request a refund on the brain cells that were used as a safety deposit, as I feel that you have not held up your end of the bargain. There is every chance I might be in need of them next week, which by virtue of being shorter, looks to be much kinder to me.

Sincerely,

[personal profile] greyias

PS - I realize that it is in fact Tuesday, thus rendering one of the tags below null and void, but I'm going to maintain that it is still a Monday, as you've refused to give any portion of my brain back to me.

Woke up way too early this morning. Must remind myself to chillax.

So, after spending all week cramming my brain full of formulas, wire gauges, and project management strategies, I'm just about ready to think about something else. So, a meme!

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] mumumugen:

Pick a character that I have written, or that you know I have substantial headcanon about, and ask any five questions about him/her. Be sure to specify whether you would like responses to be OOC (responding as the writer) or IC* (responding as the character).

* Am I the only one who sees the potential for hilarity/tears with this option?

I'll be traveling most of the day, but I'll try to answer any of these this evening when I get back to the homestead.

This week I'm in Orlando for work-related conferences, so despite knowing what day it is, I really have no clue what day it is. (For all the sense that makes.) Had a great dinner last night with the Mofos and my boss (and [livejournal.com profile] muzzle_ only told one story that made me wish we weren't eating; I'm so proud).

Before I go back to studying Ohm and Joule's Laws (my brain, it eez meeeeeelting), I will share lulz.

Today's Macro Monday is dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] muzzle_, my evil muse. As of today, he's been torturing innocent souls trolling t3h intarw3bz filling the world with light and kittens for... for... how old are you, anyway?

Macro Monday )

Happy Birthday, Muzz! I'll be seeing you guys in a little over a week! :D

I declare this Friday "Try to Mentally Scar My F-List" Day1!

For anyone who clicked on the video, congratulations! You have likely joined me in never being able to look at nuSpock the same again :D

(Actually, it reminds me of this really, really odd experimental film from the forties I saw in my Film History class once. Sadly, I cannot remember the name of the film, otherwise I'd totally try to find it and see if I still had the same D: reaction today that I did back then.)

Okay, since I'm not completely cruel, here's a happy making video for anyone who was ever a fan of the game, Final Fantasy 6:

To this day, I still maintain that FF6 was the best entry in the Final Fantasy series (and is still my favorite RPG, and video game for that matter, of all time.) [livejournal.com profile] mumumugen especially can attest to my big fangirl crush on the game, and just about all of its characters. This video is amazing. It's hand drawn, and really looks like the opening and closing credits of an anime. (I'll admit, I don't recognize the song, but I think it's set to something from Full Metal Alchemist.) I felt rather cheated by the "full motion videos" that were made for the Playstation version of the game, so this makes me happy in ways that is hard to describe.

1 - Except [personal profile] trystings, [personal profile] jadesfire, and [livejournal.com profile] sgatazmy, who kept me sane yesterday and let me vent a little. ♥! [livejournal.com profile] quatres_star... I ♥ you too, but it's fun making you watch painful videos.

I am somehow surprised, unsurprised, taken aback, and outraged by the Proposition 8 shenanigans that continue in California. My feelings are best summed up by the one dissenting judge on the matter:

"Promising equal treatment to some is fundamentally different from promising equal treatment for all. Promising treatment that is almost equal is fundamentally different from ensuring truly equal treatment."

So, instead of shaking my head, I'm going to meme instead!

Fandom meme snurched up from [personal profile] jadesfire

The rules are simple, if you're interested leave a comment and I'll LJ stalk you to find THREE FANDOMS you apparently love. And then you answer these questions about them!

1) What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2) Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3) Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
4) Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5) Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?

[personal profile] jadesfire gave me Supernatural, Rawhide, and a choice between Doctor Who or Stargate Atlantis. I went with SGA after a little dithering.

Supernatural )

Rawhide )

SGA )

And snagging this from... I think everyone else on my f-list, although [personal profile] naye was the last one I saw with it.

Favorite Ship Meme )

And before I forget, I thought I would add that [community profile] sgabigbang sign-ups are still open in all areas (writers/artists/betas/cheerleaders/coders). [personal profile] jadesfire and I have signed up as a team, which is going to produce some interesting results for sure1. This is the last year this iteration of the Big Bang is going to be run, so if you do want to join in on the fun...

1 - Jades, are you suuuure?

Today's post has been brought to you by FARK.

Things That Nearly Killed Me:

Man's Best Friend...with benefits? (complete with mugshot) - Baaaaaad Furry!

Man offers undercover cop a hamburger in exchange for sex. And they say romance is dead - *chokes on air*

Wolf t-shirt sales up 2,300% on news that wearing one will get you laid within 5 minutes of entering Walmart - *still choking*

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; don't give a man a fish sandwich and he'll just steal it, lead police on a foot chase, and be charged with a variety of offenses - *now has a fish sandwich bone stuck in her throat, further compounding the need for Heimlich*

Montanans worried about new gun laws hoard ammo so fast that munitions factory is falling behind by 100,000 rounds a day, leaving the most paranoid people in a famously gun-crazed state armed to the teeth. This should end well - *has plenty of ammo, but it does NOTHING for the fish bone*

Man summonsed to court for public drinking charge not allowed to plead guilty because he was drunk. This man has found a loophole - *too ded from asphixiation to enjoy the booze*

I, for one, welcome our new ant overlords - ...

Dell launches "Netbooks for Wymyn" site. Includes phrases such as "Your netbook can do more than deliver juicy celebrity gossip. Did you know it can also find new recipes too? It's true" - ...

CONCLUSION: Braaaaaaaaiiiiinzzzz1...

1 - ZOMBIE TRANSLATION: No more FARK during lunch.

No amusing macros this Monday, as I couldn't seem to find one that was suitable. Perhaps I'll make one up for next week.

Will that make it Macro Monday?

No kittehs to be found beyond this cut )

ETA: Sorry about that, had to fix some coding.

ETA 2: I just remembered. I have an ungodly number (See: 7) of Dreamwidth invite codes I've been inadvertently hording. Is there anyone who's interested in DW who hasn't gotten one yet?

Okay, instead of hearing my epic story of conquering wangst and flounces yesterday, I present to my dear f-lists, a mind-blowing discovery: secret menus within Adobe After Effects. Now I'm sure you're thinking to yourself, "Oh, Grey, surely you jest. You just didn't see the menu. It's not really a secret."

Um. No.

It's really a secret. It even says so on the menu.

SHHHH, it's a SECRET )

That is all.

(Actually, I have a huge backlog of e-mail to get to... so if anyone has mailed me in the past, oh, week or so and I haven't replied... sorry 'bout that? I still ♥ you. My brain is just sludge.)
